Advice for Coping with Being Separated from a Child with Epilepsy?

My daughter has epilepsy and recently began living in an assisted living facility for individuals with epilepsy and other developmental disorders. We were advised that this decision was best for her emotional and physical, but as her mother, I'm having trouble being separated from young daughter. Has anyone experienced a similar situation? I often feel guilty, as if I've abandoned her, which is the very worst thing a mother can do.

Hi there, my sister's daughter had her first epileptic seizure when she was just 7 months old. The seizures got so bad that she could experience more than 15 per day. My sister sought treatment at Heart of Mercy. Initially, she felt exactly the way you do (completely normal! and also the sign of a loving mother!), but her daughter has flourished there and her health improves each day. I hope that offers you some solace. I think you made the right decision.

Yes, I know that Heart of Mercy is an excellent facility. Thanks for sharing your story, it's very comforting.
